As electronic filing becomes more and more common, more and more lawyers have questions about best practices for creating, storing and retrieving digital documents. If you’re one of those lawyers, on Thursday of this week (October 16th) from noon until 1:30 p.m. Central time you can get answers to those questions from a couple of people who know a whole lot about it. David Masters, a practicing solo lawyer and author of two editions of The Lawyer’s Guide to Adobe Acrobat, and Nancy Duhon, also a lawyer and well known legal software consultant, will team up to present Working with Digital Documents in a Legal Environment, a 90 minute Teleconference and Live Audio Webcast.
Among other things, the program will cover:
- How PDF files and Adobe® Acrobat® can be employed to implement a digital document management system
- How to archive Outlook electronic mail to PDF for long-term storage, filing, and retention
- How to edit PDF files, including: highlighting; redacting content; adding notes; utilizing stamps; and digitally signing documents
- Applying PDF file security
- Using PDF/A to archive closed files
- Legal and ethical considerations with using PDF files
- How to manage digital litigation documents
Sponsored by the ABA Law Practice Management Section, the seminar is open to everyone. The registration fee is $85 for LPM Section members, $125 for ABA members and $150 for everyone else. I’ve heard both David and Nancy speak at ABA TECHSHOW before, and I can assure you the presentation will be well worth the price of admission.
