When You Go to Heaven, Will Your Practice Go to Hell?

None of us likes to think about death and dying, even those of us who do wills and estate planning. But every lawyer should – especially those in solo practice and very small firms – because unexpected death or disability could really put your clients’ matters in jeopardy if you haven’t created a plan for the orderly transfer or closure of your practice.

There is a great article entitled When You Go to Heaven Will Your Practice Go to Hell? by Courtney Kennaday of the South Carolina Bar and Reid Trautz of the American Immigration Lawyers Association in the January issue of Law Practice Today which outlines the problems a solo practice or small firm may encounter in the absence of a plan. For more information or help in creating your own plan, Alabama lawyers can call the Practice Management Assistance Program at (334) 517-2242.
