Aren’t we all?
Seriously, though, the Alabama Department of Corrections’ Inmate Search allows you to view the location and scheduled release information for inmates currently incarcerated by the State of Alabama. The information in the database is updated once a week, generally on Friday morning. Inmates sentenced as Youthful Offenders are not included in this search. There’s also a link that will take you, somewhat indirectly, to the Alabama Department of Safety’s Community Information Center where you can search the Sex Offender database.
If you need to find an inmate in another state, there’s a site for that, too. Try the Who’s in Jail? site. It has links to the 42 states that allow you to search electronically for inmates in their systems.
Finally, to search the federal inmate population, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ Inmate Locator.
Whether you’re in search of an old client, a missing witness, or just want a pen pal (just joking – please don’t!), these sites can help you find who you’re looking for.
