The Alabama MCLE rules now allow you to earn CLE credit by watching a live seminar offsite in real time, using your computer. And CLE Alabama has a great one, titled “The Essentials,” coming up this Friday, April 8th, if you’d like to try it out.
The seminar, which will take place at the Winfrey Hotel in Birmingham, will cover the essentials that any general practitioner in Alabama needs to know. From e-filing through basic substantive law areas such as bankruptcy, wills and probate, and uncontested divorce to how to best handle those cocktail hour consultations with neighbors and family on DUI, health care directives and real estate closing problems, this seminar is especially aimed at new lawyers who are dealing with the realities of small firm private practice. There’s also an ethics hour that will cover the issues new lawyers most often face: trust accounting, fee collection and getting new clients without running afoul of the rule against solicitation. In other words, all the things they left out of law school.
For more information on the seminar or to sign up, check out CLE Alabama’s home page, call them at (205) 348-6230, or email CLEAlabama@law.ua.edu.
